Ben Affleck rolls James Bond style

July 28, 2007

Ben AffleckJames Bond is an icon in the movie industry, all actors can agree to that. Ben Affleck did not only agree but may have had a special interest in the character as he was seen driving in an Aston Martin DB7. The Golden Globe Award-nominated actor is one of the famous leading men in Hollywood films today.

The Aston Martin DB7 was a grand tourer made from September 1994 to December 2003. The grand tourer was available either as a coupé or a convertible, and debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 1993. The DB7 was the most successful Aston Martin model ever, with more than 7,000 built before it was replaced by the DB9. The DB7 was styled by Ian Callum, and it is widely considered one of the most beautiful and timeless of automotive designs.

Who wouldn’t want to be James Bond who is famous for having “sex for dinner and death for breakfast”.

Anna Kournikova drives around Miami in style

July 27, 2007

Anna KournikovaFormer tennis player, Anna Kournikova enjoys her retirement from the court by driving around Miami with her Cadillac Escalade EXT. Also a model, Kournikova became one of the best known tennis players worldwide even if she never won a major singles tournament.

Kournikova’s major-league tennis career has been curtailed for the past several years, and possibly ended, by serious back and spinal problems. She has had some success at the singles game, but her specialty has been doubles, where she has at times been the world’s No.1 doubles player. Alongside with Martina Hingis as her partner, she won Grand Slam titles in Australia in 1999 and 2002.

Critics say that Kournikova’s playing style fits the profile for a doubles player, and is complemented by her height. She has been compared to such players as Pam Shriver and Peter Fleming.

Maybe it was because of her height why she chose a vehicle such as the Cadillac version of a pickup truck. The Cadillac Escalade EXT features a “Convert-a-Cab” composite pickup bed that can be expanded into the truck’s cab through a bottom-hinged door. It also has four full-size doors and seating for five. The base price for the said vehicle is $54,185.

Oscar-winning actor Nicholas Cage won’t be seen driving his 2005 Ford GT 40 anymore, for he donated the said vehicle to Universal Technical Institute Inc. or UTI students to use for training. Valued at more than $140,000, the white, blue-streaked 2005 Ford GT is a limited-edition vehicle. In fact only 4,500 units exist. It commemorates the look and feel of the original GT 40. The vehicle, which is autographed by the actor, will be used by UTI students as part of their educational program, from adding performance parts to breaking down system components. Cage, an avid car enthusiast, toured UTI’s Avondale campus and was impressed with the school’s programs and wished he had such an opportunity when he was young.

The car looks like it’s in prime condition and is probably worth in the neighborhood of $70,000.

Albert Gore III driving the Prius at 100mph

July 14, 2007

Albert Gore III, the son of former Vice President and Presidential candidate Al Gore, was arrested as he was driving a Toyota Prius at 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway at approximately 2:15 a.m. Gore III, who has a previous conviction for drunk driving and for marijuana possession, was stopped by officers of the Sheriff’s Department.

The arresting officers smelled marijuana and searched Gore’s car. In the car, the police found marijuana, Xanax, Valium, Vicodin, all of which are controlled substances. Though the last three are prescription drugs, Gore did not have a prescription for any of them.

Gore was held on $20,000 cash bail. Gore’s parents did not return the phone call of the Associated Press to them. A spokesman for Gore later told Reuters that the former Democratic Presidential candidate was traveling and unavailable for comment.

This just proves how fast a Prius can go, but this is also not a good way to show its speed.

Following up on Serena Williams’ other vehicles, her garage also house a Range Rover Sport.

The Range Rover Sport is a mid-size luxury SUV. It shares its platform with the Land Rover Discovery rather than the larger Range Rover. Land Rover calls the vehicle a sports tourer. It slots below the Discovery/LR3 in size and has only seating for five.

Range Rover Sport

The top-level Sport is powered by a supercharged 390 PS (287 kW/410 hp) 4.2 L AJ-V8, making it the second most powerful vehicle in the company’s history except for the larger Range Rover Vogue SE supercharged (450BHP, 420lb/ft). A normally-aspirated 4.4 L version is available with 300 PS (220 kW/295 hp). The TDV6 turbodiesel engine of 190 hp is available outside the North American market. All models have six-speed automatic transmissions and fuel capacities of about 88 liters.

Aside from the speed that Williams get from the BMW Z3 she would also need the power she can get from the Range Rover Sport.
